29TH Annual Jersey City Art & Studio Tour – The Ultimate Arts Experience

Nearly 150 Art Spaces Open their Doors next week for JCAST, an Incredible Citywide event Celebrating Jersey City as the Heart of Art and Culture

JERSEY CITY—Mayor Steven M. Fulop announces the 29th annual Jersey City Art & Studio Tour (JCAST), presented by Bank of America and made possible by the Jersey City Municipal Council and the Jersey City Office of Cultural Affairs. From Thursday through Sunday, October 3-6, nearly 150 art spaces will open their doors to the public for an incredible art-filled festival featuring artwork, performances, and the handiwork of approximately 1,000 local and regional artists. Residents and visitors are invited to enjoy and purchase art all weekend-long, while engaging with neighbors and friends in New Jersey’s most culturally diverse city in the country – Jersey City.

“Art in our community has been integral to our growth for generations, and events like JCAST truly underscore our community’s contributions to the fabric of our rich and dynamic culture,” said Mayor Fulop. “I encourage visitors from far and wide to come experience the incredible talent our growing community has to offer.”

This year, the JCAST HQ and Kickoff Celebration will be hosted in the newly-developed Shore House, part of the luxury waterfront condominium community Park and Shore located at 2 Shore Lane in the Newport neighborhood, and merely steps from the PATH station and Hudson River Waterfront Walkway. JCAST HQ at Shore House will be a main stop where visitors can get a festival map, grab a self-guided walking tour guide, enjoy a temporary gallery, or hop on a curated tour. These are custom-created journeys assembled by art specialists across a variety of themes such as exploration of the city’s vast mural collection, family fun, and creativity by neighborhood. Curated tours are offered by bus, bike and foot on a first-come, first-served basis and can be reserved at www.TheJCAST.com.

For a preview of the one-of-a-kind art experience, media is invited to attend a press event with Mayor Fulop at the JCAST HQ on October 2 at 11 a.m. as well as the Kickoff Celebration on October 3, 6-9 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.

For a more robust description of events and festivities, visitors are encouraged to go to www.TheJCAST.com, which serves as the main resource for all JCAST information. It includes a robust interactive map, a calendar of events taking place at art and performances spaces, and other JCAST-related affairs. Tour-goers can plan personal journeys exploring the city by using the online interactive map filled with an incredible array of artwork that will meet any art lover’s taste. Many participating venues will premier special entertainment like art demos, musical and dance performances, plus activities for kids.

Speaking of the little ones, JCAST Kids is a great event spotlight. As our future makers and creators, children love to experience art at all different levels. JCAST Kids events will be packaged on a separate section of the website to help parents find fun focused on what kids do best: making ideas flow.
