ADVISORY: Wisniewski To Protest ICE Immigration Raids
In New Jersey Thursday
SAYREVILLE, N.J. – Assemblyman John Wisniewski (D-Sayreville) will join the Day of Action protest against the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids that took place last week in Elizabeth. Wisniewski will speak about standing up to the Trump Administration and the need to make New Jersey a Sanctuary State.

Wisniewski has sponsored a bill to make New Jersey a “Sanctuary State” by prohibiting law enforcement from using state resources to investigate, interrogate, detain, or arrest anyone for immigration enforcement reasons. It prevents state law enforcement officers from cooperating with federal officers on immigration issues. The legislation also creates new data retention policies for schools and health care providers to prevent the federal government from being able to access individuals’ immigration status.

Here is the itinerary:
Date:  Thursday, January 23
Time:  Expected Start 11:00 a.m.
Location: Elizabeth Detention Center, 625 Evans Street, Elizabeth, NJ 07201
