Alex Majewski Joins Race for Newton Town Council

NEWTON, NJ – Alex Majewski officially launched his campaign this week for Newton Town Council, pledging to make municipal government work by placing residents and taxpayers first.

“A new beginning for Newton starts now.  We need to strengthen the communication and interaction between residents, business owners, and public servants”, Majewski said. “Newton needs a united vision and clear goals for our municipal government to function efficiently.  I will lead this effort in coordination with all stakeholders to define Newton’s mission and best serve the people. I bring a business leadership perspective to the council and look forward to working with all parties to achieve fiscal responsibility, transparency between government and the people, and a sense of pride in this town we call home.”

Majewski, a manager for a business processing outsourcing corporation, outlined his strategy for Newton which focuses on responsibility, transparency, and pride. This entails auditing and balancing the budget, establishing formal processes for capital projects, and refining communication with the public.  He also plans to spearhead the implementation of a fiscal impact and growth strategy that will help the council to better plan for future needs and the associated costs.  “So much can be done from a strategic planning perspective to anticipate our town’s needs one, three, even five years down the road”, Majewski continued. “The taxpayers of Newton cannot afford to fund an ever expanding budget that is continually amended.  We need to find every small, wasteful expense, make appropriate cuts to stop the bleeding, and start to plan for the future today.  Residents’ tax dollars are an investment. I want to give you a return on your investment that you can be proud of.”

The election is on May 8, 2018.
