Amoroso, Woolley Challenge Incumbents’ Deceptive Claims in Education Program Funding Video

Ocean Township, NJ – Legislative District 11 General Assembly candidates Mike Amoroso and Matt Woolley issued the following statement in response to the hypocrisy of their Democratic opponents’ claims regarding school funding:

“In a video published today, Assemblywoman Downey and Assemblyman Houghtaling claim ‘every student counts’ and say it’s time ‘to tell our leaders in Trenton to pick up the tab for these high cost [special education] programs,’ but they fail to mention the devastating effects of their school funding votes. They also concede that they are not leaders in Trenton.

All three of the current LD11 legislators voted to eliminate at least $38 million from school districts in LD11, which will force cuts to programs and teachers.

Allenhurst, Asbury Park, Deal, Eatontown, Freehold Regional, Monmouth Regional, Neptune City, Neptune Township, Ocean Township and Tinton Falls are among the affected school districts.

Our opponents are using special education funding as a ploy to attempt to recover from their shocking votes to cut school funding in their hometowns and district. Their tactics are shameful, hypocritical and self-serving.”

Mike Amoroso of Freehold Township and Matt Woolley of Ocean Township will put students’ needs first and fight to restore school funding to LD11 schools.
