Analilia Mejia Files Over 1,500 Signatures to Get on the Ballot for Congress

Grassroots organizer and Bernie-backed candidate files three times more signatures than required, all collected by volunteers within the last week

TRENTON, NJ — Today, Analilia Mejia filed nominating petitions to run in the special Democratic primary for New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District, submitting 1,509 signatures to get on the ballot.

Every signature was collected by volunteers in the seven days since Mejia announced her campaign, demonstrating early grassroots momentum.

“A week ago, I said that we were building something different in this district. Today, over 1,500 voters signed their names to make that happen,” said Analilia Mejia. “I’m so incredibly thankful for everyone who knocked doors and helped get us on the ballot. These were neighbors talking to neighbors about what’s at stake in this election. People are fired up, and they’re ready for a representative who’s unbought and unbossed.”
