Andrzejczak, Sweeney, Land & Milam to Hold Press Conference on Wildwoods Boardwalk
(TRENTON) – Senator Bob Andrzejczak, Senate President Steve Sweeney, Assemblyman Bruce Land and Assemblyman Matt Milam will take an open tour of the Wildwoods Boardwalk followed by a press conference addressing the state of the boardwalk and the urgent need for funding to restore and rebuild the iconic, but crumbling, beachside structure.
The tour, open to the press, will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2019. The press conference will follow immediately after at 4:00 p.m.
Location: 4501 Boardwalk, Wildwood, NJ 08260
Wildwoods’ award-winning Boardwalk features 38 blocks of stores, shops, water parks, eateries, live entertainment and amusement piers with over 100 rides and attractions. In recent months, concerns have been raised over the safety and stability of the infrastructure, even leading to the Wildwood tram cars shortening their travel routes.
In August of this year, Governor Murphy vetoed the bill that would have appropriated $4 million a year through the 2033 fiscal year to the Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority. The money would have been used for boardwalk maintenance, reconstruction, repair and construction.
