ASHTON BURRELL CONTINUES TO LIVE UP TO THE NICKNAME THE MAN OF IMPACT.

(Highland Park, NJ) April 5, 2019 – On Friday, February 8, 2019 The Man of Impact Ashton Burrell joined forces with Committeewoman Cornelia Holmes and Ms. Tauheeda Barnes-Rowe to sponsor The 2019 Black History Basketball Game at Highland Park High School Gym in Highland Park, New Jersey. Over 250 new and gently used books were collected as admission and donated to students at Belmont Charter Preschool and Belmont Charter Middle School in West Philadelphia. Burrell follows in his Aunt Cornelia Holmes’ footsteps, as she previously directed a youth camp in the Philadelphia area. Burrell recalls her sincerity, “I would watch her make sure every kid there felt like somebody…she turned no child away and I wanted to do the same one day.” This event was a follow up of Burrell’s operation 100. Operation 100 was an initiative that Burrell lead to bring over 200 toys to Spring Lake, North Carolina to help the victims of Hurricane Florence for the holidays in December.

Burrell hopes to continue community engagement locally by partnering with Trinity United Methodist Church as they host Locked Up and Locked In: An Open Dialogue on The State of America. This event will take place on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Highland Park, NJ at 7:30 in the evening. The intention is to ignite the community with transformative dialogue and equip them with game plans and resolutions to combat the overall state of disparity that is heavily felt all over the country. This event will be an open forum for everyone to come together and address the specific issues striking the community. All are encouraged to come with questions, concerns, and solutions.

Mr. Burrell is the chairman of the Human Relations Council for the State of New Jersey, Chairman of the Highland Park Human Relations Commission, Founder of the LIVE Mentorship Program, and a member of the NAACP New Brunswick Branch Executive Board. For his many social and community engagements, Mr. Burrell was recognized with the Highland Park Martin Luther King Humanitarian Award, Johnson and Johnson Martin Luther King Community Service, NAACP New Brunswick Branch President’s Award, Chapel of 4 Chaplains Award, and other great awards of recognition. He has also authored and published his first book, A Breakdown of Impact.
