NEW JERSEY LCV MOURNS THE PASSING OF ED GITTENS
TRENTON – The following is a statement from Allison McLeod, Interim Executive Director, New Jersey LCV, on the passing of Ed Gittens, Chief of Staff to New Jersey Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds Jackson and longtime friend to New Jersey LCV.
“New Jersey has lost a dedicated public servant and a passionate advocate for equity. Ed devoted his career to serving others and fighting for people whose voices are too often overlooked. His commitment to justice, voting rights, and creating greater opportunity for all reflected the very best of public service. We are grateful for his partnership and for the many ways he worked to make New Jersey a more just and equitable state, including the passage of the John R. Lewis New Jersey Voter Empowerment Act, legislation he fought so hard for and that will always be part of his legacy. Our thoughts are with Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds-Jackson, Ed’s colleagues, friends, and his family during this difficult time.”
