Assembly Candidate Andrew Macurdy Releases Digital Ad Highlighting Public Transit

Ad Comes Amidst Federal Government Withholding Funds for the Gateway Hudson River Tunnel Project

Summit, New Jersey—Former federal prosecutor and State Assembly candidate Andrew Macurdy has released his next digital ad of the general election, calling for action to improve public transportation in New Jersey.

This ad comes on the heels of the federal government withholding funding for the Gateway Project. This currently underway project is a significant investment in improving commuter transit between New Jersey and New York City, including two new rail tunnels under the Hudson River, and would provide thousands of infrastructure jobs. Gateway is already expected to take a decade to complete, and the loss of this funding would be devastating to the project.

Macurdy’s ad highlights how the incumbent Assembly representatives in the 21st Legislative District both voted against critical resources for NJ Transit last year.

This ad, like the campaign’s first two digital spots, is fifteen seconds long and narrated by Macurdy himself.

Macurdy, running in the 21st Legislative District, gave the following statement about the alarming withholding of federal funds:

It is difficult to express the frustration that I feel -- and thousands of residents and commuters through the 21st District feel -- in response to the federal government retracting funding for the Gateway Project. Building a new rail tunnel under the Hudson is imperative to protecting our economy and our way of life. No longer can we allow elected officials like the incumbents in our district to sit by in Trenton and let this happen.

“NJ Transit” Ad Transcript:

“The trains and buses in New Jersey continually let us down.

Yet the state reps from our district voted against critical resources for NJ Transit just last year.

It’s time for fresh perspectives down in Trenton.

Vote Macurdy for Assembly, November 4th.”
