Assembly Panels to Meet Thursday:

Assembly Women and Children Committee Discuss Impact of COVID-19 on Programs for Children with Disabilities; Assembly Commerce Panel to Hold Hearing on State Reopening Plan

 

(TRENTON) – The Assembly Women and Children Committee will meet  remotely on Thursday, August 20 at 10:00 AM. The committee will meet to discuss the Department of Children and Families’ currently available programs for children with developmental disabilities, before, during, and after school.  The committee will evaluate issues that families in need are facing in terms of qualifying for care, accessing programs, determining eligibility guidelines, and evaluate ways to expand eligibility guidelines for those families during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Assembly Commerce and Economic Development Committee will meet remotely on Thursday, August 20 at 1:00 PM. The panel will evaluate the potential benefits and implications of pursuing a statewide versus regionalized reopening strategy for New Jersey businesses. The committee will hear testimony from invited guests to examine the impact of the pandemic on the economies of our State’s regions and consider the experiences of states that have undertaken a regional reopening approach.

Due to the public health emergency, the State House Annex remains closed to visitors and the public will not be allowed to attend the meeting in person.  The Committee will take oral testimony on bills, by telephone and/or video, limited to three minutes.
