“I am heartbroken by the tragic shooting that took place on Mother’s Day in our community, resulting in the tragic loss of two lives and multiple others being injured. My prayers are with the victims, their families, and everyone impacted by this senseless act of violence.

“I spoke directly with Officer-in-Charge Patrick Murray, who assured me that a thorough and independent investigation is underway, including a full review of all available body camera footage and evidence related to the incident. The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office is also actively investigating the matter and collecting all available evidence to determine exactly what occurred.

“I want to thank the officers who responded to the scene under extremely difficult circumstances and the Healing Collective for being present to provide support and assistance to residents affected by this tragedy.

“Our community deserves answers, accountability, and solutions to address the gun violence that continues to plague our neighborhoods. We must come together to support the victims and work toward restoring safety and trust in our city.”
