Assemblyman Webber’s Tea Party Endorsement Out of Touch with NJ-11

Fairfield, NJ — Yesterday the far-right Tea Party Express endorsed Assemblyman Jay Webber for Congress. The legacy of the Tea Party in Congress is one of obstruction and refusal to work with members on both sides of the aisle to pass common-sense legislation. In response, U.S. Navy veteran and former federal prosecutor Mikie Sherrill released the following statement:

“Americans are tired of the divisive politics that define Assemblyman Webber and the Tea Party. Our community deserves a representative who wants to build up our healthcare system, not an out of touch Tea Party ideologue like Assemblyman Webber who wants to strip coverage from those with pre-existing conditions. It’s time for new leaders who will work across the aisle to get good legislation passed—this endorsement is proof Assemblyman Webber will only add more division to the broken politics of Washington.”
