Assemblywoman Murphy to host series, “Monday Mothers”, during Women’s History Month

Assemblywoman Carol Murphy is hosting a series of discussions throughout the month of March called “Monday Mothers”. Beginning March 8, the Assemblywoman will be bringing together groups of mothers to discuss the effects of the pandemic on motherhood. The four-part series will touch on virtual schooling, navigating career changes, work/life balance, and mental health. Week two of the four-part series, will be a discussion with mothers of children with special needs, an issue close to the Assemblywoman’s personal interests and legislative priorities.
“Mothers carry an incredible burden during this pandemic and I want to share their experiences. It is important that working mothers are recognized for their ongoing contributions to South Jersey’s workforce and to our education system during the pandemic. This series brings to light the joys, pain, and challenges of working mothers,” stated Assemblywoman Murphy. “Their stories are often overlooked yet our society benefits so much from their professional and emotional labor. March is Women’s History Month and this is my way of ensuring that working mothers are honored.”
This series was an idea that came from her Women’s Advisory Group, a group of women who are her “eyes and ears” in the community. They wanted to have a space where mothers could talk about the challenges of the past year. The event begins March 8th at 7 p.m. and runs through March 29th at 7 p.m. To sign up for the event you can visit the Assemblywoman on her Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, and click on the link in her bio.
