Bayonne Medical Center & Hoboken University Medical Center Transitional Care Units Named Best Nursing Homes for Short Term Rehab by U.S. News & World Report

BAYONNE, N.J., December 14, 2018 – The Transitional Care Units at Bayonne Medical Center and Hoboken University Medical Center both earned the designation of being named a U.S. News & World Report Best Nursing Home for 2018-2019 in recognition of the high-quality care they provide as short-stay facilities.

The Short-Stay Rehabilitation rating is new and unique for 2018-2019 and aims to provide patients with a clear understanding of the quality of care provided by nursing homes to short-stay patients in need of intensive rehabilitation or nursing services.

Dr. Vijayant Singh, Chief Hospital Executive at Bayonne Medical Center and Ann Logan, Chief Hospital Executive at Hoboken University Medical Center, jointly expressed their pride at their respective hospitals earning this prestigious award.

“Bayonne Medical Center TCU receiving this recognition is a true testament of the dedication and hard work of our entire staff, who provide comprehensive intensive care to our short-stay patients post-surgery, stroke, accident or illness,” said Dr. Singh.

“Having two Hudson County hospitals earn this distinction is an honor,” said Ann Logan. “CarePoint Health continues to work had every day to provide a full spectrum of care for our entire community.”

Nearly 13,000 nursing homes were evaluated for consideration to U.S. News’ 2018-2019 Best Nursing Homes rankings in either the Short-Stay Rehabilitation or Overall ratings.

“Every year we strive to improve upon the information we offer to caregivers making critical health care decisions for their loved ones,” says Ben Harder, Chief of Health Analysis at U.S. News. “We understand that nurse staffing is among the most important predictors of nursing home quality. With our new methodology and Short-Stay Rehabilitation rating, we have taken several steps to ensure that nursing homes that consistently provide high quality care to residents are highlighted.”
