BELLEVILLE COUNCILMAN FRANK VÉLEZ TO RUN FOR MAYOR

BELLEVILLE, N.J. — Councilman Frank Vélez announced on New Year’s Day that he will run for Mayor of Belleville in the May 12 Municipal Election. Vélez previously served on the Belleville Board of Education and worked as an aide to the late Congressman Bill Pascrell, Jr.
“Belleville deserves leadership that shows up, listens, and delivers,” said Vélez.

“I’m running to bring respect and accountability to the Mayor's Office, protect our neighborhoods, and make sure Belleville’s future is defined by opportunity, affordability, and public safety — not petty personal politics.”

Vélez said his campaign will focus on:
• Standing up to reckless overdevelopment and protecting neighborhood character

  • Improving quality-of-life issues including enforcement and improving local services
  • Strengthening Town Services and supporting first responders
  • Responsible budgeting and transparency for taxpayers
  • Responsive constituent services that treat residents with respect

Vélez has served Belleville in elected and public-service roles, emphasizing accessibility and direct communication with residents.

If elected, he said he will make the Mayor’s Office more open, responsive, respectful, and accountable to the people of Belleville.
