Bernier and McCamery Launch Campaign for Roselle Council Seats

On Monday, April 15, 2024, Councilman Brandon Bernier and Rosetta “Rosie” McCamery officially launched their campaign for Roselle’s 2nd and 5th Ward Council seats. Bernier is running for his third term as 2nd Ward Councilman while McCamery is seeking the 5th Ward seat currently held by Councilman John Fortuna, who has decided not to run for re-election. Fortuna has strongly endorsed McCamery’s candidacy.

In his two terms on the Borough Council, Bernier has established a proven track record of delivering meaningful results to the residents of the 2nd Ward, chief among them an impressive four straight years with no municipal tax increase. During his tenure, Roselle’s 2nd Ward has seen investment and attention that had historically been lacking. Two-thirds of the roads in the 2nd Ward have been repaved in the last five years, Poplar Street Park has been completely redone, Warren Street Park will soon be built with the help of a $1 million grant, and the redevelopment of St. George Avenue is finally progressing after decades of inaction. Councilman Bernier continues to be the right choice for Roselle’s 2nd Ward.

McCamery is a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and founder of S.O.A.R. Hospitality & Travel, a non-profit organization that provides underserved youth with essential skills training in the hospitality entrepreneurship fields. Throughout her military career, she has been recognized as Airman of the Quarter and received a commendation for her service in education and training. McCamery is also very actively involved in the Roselle community as a mentor with Roselle Women on the Move, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Roselle Urban Enterprise Zone Corporation. Her discipline, training, and commitment to the mission will be the backbone of how she serves the community as the 5th Ward Councilwoman.

“I stand behind Rosie,” adds Mayor Donald Shaw. “She has already proven her commitment to Roselle through the work she has been doing in the community for years. She is smart and passionate about making Roselle a better place to live, and she’s going to help us keep Roselle on the move.” McCamery makes clear, “I am not a politician. I am a public servant. I want to do my part to make Roselle stronger. Like many residents, I have school-aged children who depend on us to build a brighter future for them, and everything in my life has prepared me to do just that as 5th Ward Councilwoman.”

McCamery holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the Metropolitan College of New York (MCNY). She continues to build her knowledge and leadership skills through the Air Force Non-Commissioned Officer’s Leadership Academy and the NJ Air National Guard’s CATALIST Leadership Program.

Bernier is lifelong resident of Roselle, born and raised in the 2nd Ward. He obtained both his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Computer Engineering from the George Washington University. He currently works as the Director of Business Operations at EJC Systems, Inc., an engineering firm specializing in the custom design and fabrication of automated test equipment.

“We have a unified Council that has shown Roselle we are truly stronger together, and Rosie will be an incredible addition to the team,” says Councilman Bernier. “I’m excited about all we have been able to accomplish together, and I’m looking forward to the significant progress we’ll be able to make in Roselle over the next three years.”
