Booker Statement on Delay of Senate Republican Health Repeal Bill

Washington, DC – U.S. Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) issued the following statement:

“Although we know that the vote on the Senate Republicans’ craven plan has been delayed, we cannot delude ourselves into thinking this fight is over. We know that Senate Republican leadership will spend the next couple of weeks wrangling votes — so we must spend that time rallying more resistance against this cruel repeal effort that would result in over 20 million Americans losing access to health coverage, increasing costs and worsening quality of coverage, all to give the richest Americans a huge tax cut.

“We cannot afford to lose the urgency with which we are fighting this bill. We cannot afford to stop now, to fall silent, or be satisfied with this temporary delay.

“We must continue to speak out and speak up for our fellow Americans, because the healthcare of millions will depend on the strength of our voices in the days to come.”
