BROWN TO SEEK FULL TERM AS MONMOUTH DEMS CHAIRMAN – STRONG SUPPORT FROM LOCAL CHAIRS

Today, Monmouth County Democratic Chairman David G. Brown II announced that he will seek a full term as Chairman at the Monmouth County Democratic Committee’s reorganization meeting in June. Chairman Brown was elected in January of 2017 after then Chairman Vin Gopal resigned to run for the State Senate.

“It has been a privilege to serve the Democrats of Monmouth County,” said Brown. “With the support and advice of our members, we have made strong progress in our efforts to elect passionate and committed Democrats to public office. I would be honored to serve our members for another term as Chairman, and look forward to continuing the success we’ve had into 2018 and beyond.”

Joining Chairman Brown’s slate are Mary Foster of Middletown for Vice Chair, Bill Robinson of Eatontown for Corresponding Secretary, Mariel DiDato of Hazlet for Recording Secretary, Mary Pat Gendelman of Fair Haven for Treasurer and Mayor Nick Williams of Neptune as Sergeant-At-Arms. “I am pleased to support Chairman Brown and his team for a full term this June. I will be speaking with county committee over these next several months to communicate how much progress we have made as a party this past year. The Monmouth Democrats have been inclusive, with more caucuses than any other county in the state, the largest recurring low-donor program in the state and a strong record of winning long-time Republican seats,” stated State Senator and Former County Chairman Vin Gopal.

Chairman Brown noted that some of his accomplishments as Chair include:

  • Flipping the 11th legislative district by electing Senator Vin Gopal, and overseeing the first successful Democratic LD11 Assembly re-election campaign for two assemblymembers in Monmouth County in over 30 years.

  • Renewed efforts at local party-building, which have led to landmark victories in towns such as Neptune City, Matawan, and Eatontown.

  • Large increases in fundraising, committee membership, and grassroots outreach

  • Largest number of local elected officials and Mayors in over a decade.
