Bucco Blasts Gov. Murphy for Giving 20% Raises to Unions

Murphy Secured No Concessions from CWA While Asking for $1.7 Billion in Tax Increases from NJ Residents

Senator Anthony Bucco (R-25), the Senate Republican Budget Officer, blasted a contract negotiated by the Murphy Administration with the New Jersey CWA, which represents approximately 40,000 taxpayer funded union members employed by the State:

“It’s outrageous that Governor Murphy would give massive salary increases that could top 20 percent to union members without demanding anything in return for taxpayers, like concessions on expensive health benefits. It’s especially egregious considering the $1.7 billion in tax increases the Governor has proposed to fund his generosity with other people’s money. This wasn’t as much a contract negotiation as it was a pure giveaway.”
