Burlington County Victorian Holiday Celebration on December 8th

Burlington County Freeholders remind residents of this special event!

The Burlington County Freeholders are excited to announce the return of the famous Victorian Holiday Celebration in Smithville Park this Sunday, December 8, from 1pm to 5pm.

“This event will surely get you in the holiday spirit!” said Freeholder Director Tom Pullion. “Festivities will include tours of the Smithville Mansion decorated for the Holidays and live entertainment by the Village Carolers, ice carving demonstrations, live reindeer, and more!”

Kids can make an ornament to hang on the Smithville Tree or skate on the iceless skating rink. New this year, create a virtual Holiday card by visiting the animated GIF tent,  visit the Holiday Marketplace to find unique gifts for family and friends and, for a small donation, have those gifts wrapped courtesy of Rancocas Nature Center.   Take a ride on a mechanical reindeer, but beware of the Grinch who may try to dash your holiday spirit. Mrs. Claus will tell inside stories about Saint Nick, who arrives by carriage at 2pm.

There will be a Holiday train and carriage rides for the enjoyment of all and plenty of photo opportunities that will be perfect for your holiday cards! The event is free. There is a nominal fee to tour the holiday decorated mansion. Proceeds from the tour benefits the Friends of the Mansion at Smithville.

Grab a bite to eat at the food court or warm up with a cup of hot chocolate and S’mores by the fire, provided by the Friends of the Mansion and roasted by the County’s Fire Marshal.

Also featured at the event is Portraits and Fashion, a celebration of photography and fashion programs at RCBC at Historic Smithville Park’s Worker’s House Museum & Gallery, presented by Rowan College at Burlington County. This exhibit invites all to experience a unique look into the current perspectives of our region’s culture through student and faculty collective works.  The exhibit opens on December 6th and will remain open during regular hours through January 26th.
