Metuchen Elections
Democratic incumbents promise an inclusive Metuchen that moves forward together
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Metuchen Mayor Jonathan Busch and Metuchen Borough
Councilmembers Dorothy Rasmussen, Linda Koskoski and Dan Hirsch filed nominating
positions today to stand for reelection this November.
“Over the last few years, Metuchen has cemented its place as one of the most vibrant little towns
in all of New Jersey,” said Mayor Busch. “It is an exciting time to live in Metuchen. Rarely a
week goes by where we don’t have a new business opening in town and that brings great strength
and diversity to our community. In the coming months, we will share our vision of Metuchen
that keeps us moving forward so that all residents benefit from our growth.”
Busch is running for his first full term as mayor. This past November he won a special election
to complete the final year of the prior unexpired term.
“Metuchen has long been known as a destination for artists and art lovers,” said Council
President Koskoski. “It is also a place where small businesses thrive. I look forward to working
to make sure the new Arts District serves both of these communities well and makes Metuchen
the destination for those who love the creative side of life.”
“Over the past few years, we have been able to greatly reduce the number of vacant stores on
Main Street while also expanding and modernizing our downtown district,” said Councilwoman
Rasmussen. “All the while, Metuchen has maintained its wonderful charm and friendly manner
that makes it the best place in Middlesex County to raise a family. Over the next few years, we
need to redouble our efforts to make Metuchen a greener, healthier, more connected town.”
Rasmussen, the council’s longest serving member, is running for her fourth term while Koskoski
is running for her second term.
“There is nothing more important than making sure that Metuchen maintains its small-town feel
while we improve the quality of life for all our neighbors,” Councilman Hirsch said. “It was a
true honor to be named to the Council this year and serve the people of Metuchen. Over the next
few months, we will outline ways to keep up the progress in affordable ways.”
Hirsch is running to fill out the final year of his term after being named by the Council in
January to fill a vacated seat.
“We have an outstanding slate of candidates who bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and
passion to the table,” said Beatrice Moskowitz, Chair of the Metuchen Democrats. “I know they
will run a positive campaign based on a vision of Metuchen that is where people want to live,
work, and have a good time.”
All four candidates look forward to a lively campaign and expect to talk to as many Metuchen
residents as possible up through Election Day to discuss their inclusive, forward-thinking vision
of Metuchen’s future.
