CD-6 Candidate Walker Supports Central Jersey Climate Coalition’s Environmental Demands
CD6 Democratic candidate Javahn Walker released the following statement:
In response to the Central Jersey Climate Coalition’s demand for Rep. Pallone to return the roughly $15,000 in fossil fuel donations that he accepted during his last election cycle, I echo their demand and urge the Congressman to do the same. As a primary challenger for his Congressional seat, I am in full agreement with their concern for the environment and vow to support their following demands:
Hold a fair hearing on the means of implementing a strong Green New Deal
Ending fossil fuel exports and subsidies
Adopt 100% renewable energy and zero carbon transmission by 2030
How can constituents trust their Congressman that preaches about a clean environment but accepts donations from companies that build oil pipelines like Transcanada USA? Whether it’s barely finding enough support for a plan to cut carbon emissions by 2050 or actively accepting donations from companies that destroy our environment, it seems rather unlikely that the current representation would be willing to listen to any of these demands.
Our environment needs immediate action and cannot wait. The incumbent’s lack of effort regarding saving our environment is visible throughout his district. If he isn’t serious about protecting his constituents from a decaying planet, then his tenure in Congress is no longer needed. NJ’s 6th Congressional District deserves a Representative that not just recognizes an environment in danger, but will accept swift action plans to prevent further damage. If I am elected to Congress, we will have a green environment that meets our 2030 deadline.
