CD11’s Washburne: First Donation Received to Congressional Campaign

Washburne

Dear friends and family:

As someone who has studied and taught politics and history for most of my adult life, I am deeply concerned about the influence of money on our politics. I, therefore, decided not to take any money from anyone when I ran to represent my New Jersey 11th Congressional District in 2018. Despite taking no money and having no campaign manager or staff, I finished 3rd out of 5 candidates in that 2018 Democratic Primary. Unfortunately for me, the top two candidates spent hundreds of thousands of dollars setting up offices with paid staff and easily beat me in the vote count.

Politics is (or should be) a learning experience and I decided to accept small donations in this my second time running for Congress. I still will not accept any support from federally registered lobbyists, corporate PACs, or Super PACs. I also will not be hosting any galas with rich donors who might expect special treatment in the future.

Last week, I setup an ActBlue account with small donors in mind. Today, I went to their website and received my first small donation from a voter in my district. Thank you Matthew! If you would like to make a small donation to this campaign that advocates for the Impeachment of Trump for his criminal behavior, I would be most grateful. If not, that is great too. I still hope to earn your vote for the June 2, 2020 New Jersey Democratic primary. Please click here for my campaign website and the donation button:  https://mwashburneforcongress.com

Thank you!

Best wishes,

Mark Washburne                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Candidate for NJ 11th Congressional District
