Centenary University Recognizes Outstanding Students at Honors Convocation

Annual event honors students for notable academic achievement

 

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J., April 29, 2019—Centenary University recognized 24 students for outstanding academic achievement at the annual Honors Convocation, held on April 25 in the George H. Whitney Chapel. The event featured a keynote address from Meghan M. Kolbusch, the valedictorian of Centenary University’s Class of 2018. A double major in history and political and governmental affairs, Kolbusch minored in theater. She is a museum interpretive guide in the educational program at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum in Manhattan.

Blairstown

Jordan Greszczak, Outstanding Achievement in Political and Governmental Affairs, for the student with the highest average who demonstrates excellent academic performance in their studies.

Hackettstown

Landon Nalavany, Outstanding Achievement in History, awarded to students who demonstrate excellent academic performance in history studies.

Ashley Papazian, Outstanding Achievement in Social Work, presented to students who demonstrate excellent academic performance in social work studies.

Sara A. Schaarschmidt, the Social Media Marketing Innovator Award, presented to a student who has shown initiative, insight, and outstanding skills in the social media marketing field.

Johnsonburg

Jennifer Fowles, Outstanding Achievement in Social Work, presented to students who demonstrate excellent academic performance in social work studies.

Washington

Halle R. Cannon, Outstanding Achievement in Business, which recognizes the recipient of the New Jersey Collegiate Business Administration Association Honor Society.

Thomas J. Conklin, the Centenary University Criminal Justice Student Achievement Award, presented to the graduating senior with the highest average in criminal justice or sociology who intends on pursuing graduate studies or employment within the criminal justice system.

Danielle I. Dellamo, Outstanding Achievement in Psychology, presented to a freshman or sophomore who exemplifies the highest proficiency in psychology.

Jessica M. Ervey, Outstanding Achievement in Education, presented to the graduating senior who shows outstanding professional and intellectual growth, passion, and commitment to the teaching profession, and involvement and support of the University’s Education and Mathematics Department.

Stephanie Williams, Outstanding Achievement in Sociology, presented to the student with the highest average who also demonstrates cultural competence, respects the opinions of others, and engages in opportunities, both in and outside the classroom, that allow students to apply professional and discipline-specific skills.

Gregory Robinson, the Social Media Marketing Professional Award, presented to a graduating senior who has demonstrated excellence in the field of social media marketing.

Maria Brizek, Outstanding Achievement in English—Third or Fourth Year Award, presented to an upperclass student who has consistently demonstrated integrity and leadership, has excelled in research, has shown a true love for literature, and has contributed to the life of the department in unique and outstanding ways.

Angelica E. Aponte, the Raymond Sloan Scholarship in the Arts, awarded to students in the Graphic Design Program who have demonstrated scholarship and interest in the arts.

Dana Gearity, the Centenary University Criminal Justice Student Achievement Award, presented to the graduating senior with the highest average in criminal justice or sociology who intends on pursuing graduate studies or employment within the criminal justice system.

Clinton

Jena R. Ungarten, Heath Prize in Chemistry, presented to a science major who demonstrates aptitude and scholastic achievement.

Amanda Lebelt, the Raymond Sloan Scholarship in the Arts, awarded to students in the Graphic Design Program who have demonstrated scholarship and interest in the arts.

Harry Glasser-Baker, Outstanding Achievement in History, awarded to students who demonstrate excellent academic performance in history studies.

Najee S. Evans, the Cutler and Swenson Award, presented to the social & behavioral sciences degree candidate who has shown the highest proficiency in the field and the greatest interest in civic affairs.

Asma Y. Ali, the Elmer E. Pearce Speech Prize, presented to the student who has shown the greatest improvement in speech.

Manzi, Outstanding Achievement in English—First or Second Year Award, presented to a first or second year student who has demonstrated great promise in the field of English studies and has shown an affinity toward critical thinking and imaginative writing; the Richard A. Dennis Scholarship, recognizing an academically promising second year Centenary University student.

Samantha Bombardiere, Stutzman Prize in Biology, awarded to the student who demonstrates an aptitude, academic achievement, and a commitment to the study of biology.

Megan K. Marino, the Elaine Stewart Tyrrell Memorial Scholarship, presented to an outstanding criminal justice student who intends to pursue a career in the field.

Haley Hobbs, Outstanding Achievement in Equine Studies—Sophomore or Junior, presented to an accomplished sophomore or junior level equestrian student who has achieved the highest average in equine studies.

Lucile D. Vigouroux, Outstanding Achievement in Equine Studies—Senior, presented to an accomplished senior level equestrian student who has achieved the highest level in equine studies.
