CHAIRMAN CURRIE ANNOUNCES PLANS TO DONATE PAST CONTRIBUTIONS RECEIVED FROM DR. MELGEN

[Trenton] — Today, New Jersey Democratic State Committee Chairman John Currie issued the following statement announcing plans to donate $20,000 — the amount of two $10,000 political contributions received during the 2006 and 2012 election cycles, respectively — from Dr. Salomon Melgen:

“The New Jersey Democratic State Committee is dedicated to upholding the highest ethical standard. Today, we donated the funds we received from Dr. Salomon Melgen to New Jersey charities. Though these donations were received many years ago and before I was chairman, I felt that it was important that we take this action. Unlike Donald Trump’s Republican Party, we are focused on restoring accountability to the public sector, not avoiding it at all costs.
