CIANJ STATEMENT ON PORT AUTHORITY’S COMMITMENT TO REBUILD
TRANSPORTATION INFRASTRUCTURE
Rochelle Park, NJ (June 27, 2019) – The Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey supports the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s commitment to rebuilding vital parts of our transportation infrastructure and its pledge to hold six public hearings on the $37 billion capital plan and proposed fare increases.
CIANJ President Anthony Russo said, “Business leaders are eager to see the improvements envisioned by the Port Authority because they are huge steps toward bringing our transportation infrastructure into the 21st century.” Russo emphasized that the capital projects include: Newark Liberty Airport’s new Terminal One to replace the outdated Terminal A and new AirTrain Newark, as well as PATH improvements, expansion of an electric vehicle fleet and construction of facilities to support them.
Russo said, “A modern and efficient transportation network is critical to the economic health and success of the region.”
Russo also said in holding a series of six public hearings in various locations and times, the Port Authority is adhering to a commitment to seek public input and provide transparency.
