Climate Activists to Rally at Anderson Street Train Station in Hackensack Before Heading by Train to Rally at Secaucus Junction, then on to Climate Strike in Newark

WHO: Bergen County students, residents, and activists will rally at NJ Transit’s Anderson Street train station before heading to a rally at Secaucus Junction, then to Newark for the North Jersey Climate Strike.

WHAT: The marchers will strike from school and work to call for bold action in response to the climate crisis and related environmental injustices in New Jersey.

In total, there are ten ‘feeder’ rallies beginning at train stations across the region.

After the train station rallies, marchers will gather in Newark at noon, and then march to NJ Transit headquarters to call on Governor Murphy to stop a planned gas-fired power plant that would be built in the Meadowlands in Kearny and to support an alternative proposal to use the Federal Sandy-resilience grant of $409 for SOLAR RAIL (with solar storage).

The Climate Strike in Newark, part of a Global Climate Strike, will call for Clean Air, Clean Water, Renewable Energy, and Justice for All, with specific demands around each issue.
