Closter: Fair & Dignified Treatment for All, Regardless of Immigration Status

CLOSTER, N.J. - April 13, 2026 - PRLog -- At its last Mayor and Council meeting, Closter joined the growing number of New Jersey communities that have approved local resolutions to protect the rights of all people regardless of immigration status.

The Closter Democratic Club and Bonnie Bayardi's Closter Patriots were instrumental in introducing and supporting the resolution throughout their borough's legislative process.

Council members Alissa Latner and Jannie Chung, who are also, Democratic Club members provided critical work to ensure that the wording was in keeping with democratic principles and ready in proper format for a vote. Discussion was held before and after the bipartisan vote to approve:

Resolution: "26-120 EXPRESSING CLOSTER'S COMMITMENT TO EQUAL, RESPECTFUL AND DIGNIFIED TREATMENT OF ALL PEOPLE, REGARDLESS OF THEIR IMMIGRATION STATUS"

Many members of the Club and the community attended, in person and online, urging acceptance and then thanking the Mayor and Council.

When we work together, we get work done. There is more work to do. And fun to be had!
