Congressional Candidate and Hudson County Commissioner Jerry Walker applauds Gateway Tunnel Project

For Immediate Release July 10, 2024

As of today, the Gateway Development Commission announced full funding to build The Hudson River Tunnel Project. As thousands of commuters in the 10th Congressional District depend on mass transit to get to their destinations, this is a step in the right direction. The Gateway Development Commission has received $12 billion to build the Hudson River Tunnel and additional money to complete other projects.

“This includes billions in fully funded grants not only in the 10th Congressional District but in the State of New Jersey. This is one of the largest federal funding commitments to a rail transportation project in modern history. I would like to thank all parties who were able to come together to support this important measure which is so critical for our commuter families. This project also creates good-paying jobs to help spur economic development.  Special thanks to U.S Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on helping to secure additional monies for our most vulnerable communities.”

–          Hudson County Commissioner Vice Chairman Jerry Walker (Congressional Candidate- CD10)
