CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE APPLAUDS PRESIDENT TRUMP’S PLAANED SUMMIT WITH NORTH KOREA’S KIM JUNG-UN Republican Daryl Kipnis Encouraged By Apparent Foreign Policy Coup
SOMERSET, NJ, March 9, 2018 – New Jersey 12th District congressional candidate, and Somerset attorney, Daryl Kipnis said he was “encouraged” to learn Thursday night about a possible summit between President Donald Trump and North Korean Leader Kim Jung-un.
“I am most encouraged to learn that North Korea’s leadership has committed to enter into discussions concerning nuclear weapons disarmament with the United States,” Kipnis said. “I thank President Trump for his leadership in protecting American national security and I hope that an understanding can be reached that advances the interests of peace.”
National Security Advisor Chung Eui-Yong made the announcement at the White House Thursday night after briefing the president on his recent visit to Pyongyang, North Korea.
“I told President Trump that, in our meeting, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said he is committed to denuclearization. Kim pledged that North Korea will refrain from any further nuclear or missile tests. He understands that the routine joint military exercises between the Republic of Korea and the United States must continue. And he expressed his eagerness to meet President Trump as soon as possible,” Eui-Yong said. “President Trump appreciated the briefing and said he would meet Kim Jong-un by May to achieve permanent denuclearization.”
Eui-Yong thanked President Trump for his leadership on the issue and for bringing the “maximum pressure” to bear on North Korea in the form of sanctions and other actions.

“I explained to President Trump that his leadership and his maximum pressure policy, together with international solidarity, brought us to this juncture. I expressed (South Korean) President Moon Jae-in’s personal gratitude for President Trump’s leadership.”
Officials said the time and place of the summit were yet to be determined.
“Kim Jong Un talked about denuclearization with the South Korean Representatives, not just a freeze. Also, no missile testing by North Korea during this period of time,” President Trump said in a tweet following the announcement. “Great progress being made but sanctions will remain until an agreement is reached. Meeting being planned!”
