Following Return from Afghanistan

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Andy Kim announced that he will hold a town hall meeting in Westampton on Saturday, October 12th at 2:00pm. Congressman Kim returned this weekend from a bipartisan visit to Afghanistan and would like to provide a timely update following his discussions with service members, military and diplomatic leaders, and Afghan officials.

“I got to see first-hand the bravery of our servicemen and women and American civilians during my visit to Afghanistan last week,” said Congressman Kim. “They risk their lives to protect us, and we should never lose sight of the dangers they still face 18 years into the war.  My visit provided critically important information that I want to share with our community as we, as a country, face decisions ahead on how to protect our national security and bring this war to an end.”

Congressman Kim is a member of the House Armed Services Committee, where he serves as the Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Readiness and as a Member of the Subcommittee on Intelligence and Emerging Threats and Capabilities. Prior to serving in Congress, he worked as a civilian adviser to Generals David Petraeus and John Allen in Afghanistan.

“I want to thank Mayor Wisniewski of Westampton for inviting our community to his town,” said Congressman Kim. “I look forward to seeing people from Burlington and Ocean Counties on this important subject.”

This will be the thirteenth town hall held by Congressman Kim during the 116th Congress, and part of a monthly series to allow the Congressman to hear directly from constituents throughout New Jersey’s Third District.
