to celebrate National Nurses Week

DATE:                    Tuesday, May 7

TIME:                    10 a.m.

PLACE:                  Rutgers Nursing and Science Building, third floor, Atrium

530 Federal Street (Fifth and Federal Sts., next to City Hall), Camden

WHAT:                 Long known as the unsung heroes of health care, nurses will receive a spotlight for their role in keeping America healthy during National Nurses

Week, which runs during May 6 to 12.

U.S. Representative Donald Norcross, the congressman for New Jersey’s First Legislative District, will join the faculty and students at the Rutgers School of Nursing–Camden in a ceremony to commemorate National Nurses Week and the work done by nurses in Camden and across the nation.

Rutgers University–Camden Chancellor Phoebe A. Haddon and Rutgers School of Nursing–Camden Dean Donna Nickitas also will speak.

The congressman will present a proclamation to the Rutgers University–Camden nursing school in honor of the nursing profession.

Recent comments by a Washington state senator thoughtlessly suggested that nurses “play cards” more than serve their patients. Nothing could be further from the truth. This celebration of National Nurses Week is an opportunity to underscore the critical value of nurses to our everyday health.
