WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Andy Kim (NJ-03) was joined by representatives from Alzheimer’s Association, Greater NJ Chapter, and Ocean Ride for an interactive virtual forum on veterans’ and veteran caregiver issues impacting the large veteran community across New Jersey.

“I’m proud to have one of the largest veterans populations in the country right in our community. It’s important we work every day to make sure they have the care they need and honor everything they’ve done for us,” said Congressman Kim. “I want to thank the Alzheimer’s Association and Ocean Ride for their work supporting our veterans, and I look forward to continuing this important effort with them in the months and years to come.”

During the forum, Congressman Kim highlighted recent efforts to hold the Department of Veterans Affairs accountable for their failure to deliver a new veterans’ health facility to Ocean County, and discussed ways his office can help local veterans who have issues obtaining benefits from the VA.  Responding to a question, he restated his continued advocacy for military readiness and the importance of keeping this top of mind as we work through our other challenges with containing COVID-19.

Congressman Kim also discussed his commitment to families and veterans dealing with dementia through his strong support for increased research, and policy advancement. He reiterated how vital it is that individuals and healthcare providers be able to access the resources they need during their difficult journey with this illness.
