Congressman Malinowski Calls on Senate to Hold Vote on H.R. 1

(Washington, DC) Today, Congressman Tom Malinowski and other Freshman House Democrats who are leading the charge for the most sweeping anti-corruption, pro-democracy reforms in a generation demanded that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell finally do his job and hold a vote on H.R. 1.

“The bills that we passed in the house command majority support among the American people, and in many cases the support of Republican Senators who are not being given a chance to vote on them.”

“Until we pass the systemic reforms prescribed in HR1, we will not change the culture that keeps Congress from coming together on issues most critical to the American people: whether comprehensive background checks for gun sales, reducing prescription drug prices, or passing tax reform that favors the middle class,” said Congressman Malinowski. “It’s past time for Senator McConnell to put policy over politics, and allow the Senate to do what a majority of Americans and members of Congress demand.
