Congressman Sires’ Statement on President Trump’s Decision to Cut Aid to Central America

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Congressman Sires, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere, Civilian Security, and Trade, released the following statement on the Trump Administration’s decision to cut funding to address root causes of migration in Central America:

“President Trump’s decision to cut funding that’s sole purpose is to address the root causes of migration proves he isn’t serious about protecting our border. This misguided decision puts thousands of lives at risk and will only increase migration to our Southern Border. His actions show he only cares about scoring cheap political points and is uninterested in the real issues.  I will do everything in my power to work with my colleagues in Congress to push back on his reckless behavior.”
