Coughlin Joins Murphy, Sweeney in Elizabeth for Signing of Legislation to Raise the Minimum Wage

(TRENTON) – Speaker Craig Coughlin will join Governor Phil Murphy and Senate President Steve Sweeney in Elizabeth on Monday to sign legislation to gradually increase the minimum wage in the Garden State.

The Governor and the Legislative leaders will be joined by workers, advocates, community members, local elected officials, State legislators and members of New Jersey’s congressional delegation.

“This long overdue increase in the State’s minimum wage will help hard working New Jerseyans rise out of poverty,” said Speaker Craig Coughlin (D-Middlesex). “Too many people and families are struggling to pay their bills, put food on the table and meet other basic needs. Earning a more livable wage is critical to solving the more pervasive issues of poverty and hunger around our state.”

The event will take place at 12:30 p.m. at Make the Road New Jersey, 42 Broad St., Elizabeth, NJ 07201.
