Councilman Amatorio Encourages Bergenfield Veterans to Utilize New NJ State Income Tax Exemption
New State Law Strengthens Amatorio’s Bergenfield Disabled Veterans Tax Exemption
BERGENFIELD, NJ — New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy recently approved the New Jersey 2020 Fiscal Year Budget with a doubled Veterans Income Tax Exemption, which will provide a $6,000 tax exemption to honorably discharged New Jersey veterans and their surviving partners. This state law reflects and upholds the Bergenfield Disabled Veterans Tax Exemption spearheaded by Councilman Amatorio in 2017 which provides municipal property tax relief to veterans and their surviving spouses
“Our veteran community is one that we strive to honor and protect,” said Councilman Arvin Amatorio, liaison to the Bergenfield Veterans Committee. “Governor Murphy’s newest tax exemption will support home ownership among Bergenfield residents who have served our country and risked everything to keep us safe, and now it is our turn to pay them back. That is why I spearheaded a Disabled Veterans Tax Exemption at the municipal level two years ago, and now Governor Murphy’s initiative will provide these veterans the state property tax relief they need and deserve.”
Councilman Amatorio currently serves as the Bergenfield Council Finance Committee Chairman and serves on the Police and DPW committees.
