County Clerk Invites High School Students to Participate in the 2018 Archives and History Day Photography Contest

 

FREEHOLD, NJ – Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon is inviting all high school students in Monmouth County to participate in the County Clerk’s 2nd Annual Archives and History Day Photography Contest.

 

All high school students who reside in Monmouth County and/or attend a school in Monmouth County are eligible to participate. Students can enter one original photograph of a historic building in Monmouth County, New Jersey. Digital and/or traditional special effects are permitted in entries.

 

“After a successful inaugural contest last year, I am excited to host our Archives and History Day Photography Contest for high school students for the second time,” said County Clerk Hanlon. “Our photography contest gives students the ability to demonstrate their creativity and pride in Monmouth County’s history so I look forward to reviewing this year’s entries.”

The top three (3) winners of the Photography Contest will receive a prize. The first place winner will receive a $150 gift card, the second place winner will receive a $100 gift card, and the third place winner will receive a $50 gift card. Prizes will be awarded at the 23rd Annual Archives and History Day hosted by the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office between 11 a.m. and noon on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters, located at 125 Symmes Drive in Manalapan.

 

The Monmouth County Clerk’s Office hosts Archives and History Day to promote the importance of Monmouth County’s history and its preservation. The Monmouth County Clerk’s Archives Division has been responsible for maintaining Monmouth County’s historical documents and records for over 30 years.

 

Students may submit photographs from Sept. 10 until the deadline of Oct. 3. Entries will be accepted via email to CountyClerk@co.monmouth.nj.us with the subject “2018 Archives and History Day Photography Contest.” Emailed entries must consist of an original image with a resolution of at least 1024 pixels wide. Entries may also be sent via postal mail on 8×10 inch paper in a plastic sleeve to Monmouth County Clerk, Attn: Photography Contest, 33 Mechanic Street, Freehold, NJ 07728.
