Cranford Democrats Name Candidates for Township Committee

Brian Andrews and Kathleen Miller Prunty Announce Run for Township Committee

Cranford — The Cranford Democratic Committee is proud to announce that Brian Andrews and Kathleen Miller Prunty will be the Democratic candidates for two seats on the Cranford Township Committee.

Andrews is active in the Cranford community serving as chair of the Township’s Pedestrian Safety Committee and is a Board member of the Cranford Fund for Educational Excellence (CFEE), which helps empower Cranford teachers to provide the best educational opportunities for local students. He and his wife, Jill, chose Cranford as the place to raise their two young children and their Black Lab, Woodrow.

Andrews is a partner at a management consulting firm focused on the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to returning to New Jersey in 2013, he served in the State Department, Department of Defense, and National Security Council in Washington, DC across both Democratic and Republican administrations.

“Cranford has a strong town spirit, active volunteerism, and a vibrant downtown. We’ve benefitted tremendously from this amazing community and eager for the opportunity to serve and give back,” said Andrews. “Even with the ‘Best Downtown in New Jersey,’ there is more we can do to improve quality of life, in our neighborhoods and on our commutes.”

Miller Prunty served more than 20 years as the Township’s Director of Downtown Business and Economic Development attracting new businesses, investments and making improvements to enhance the downtown’s appeal resulting in many awards and recognitions for the downtown. In 2016, she was named Economic Development Director of the Year. She also served three terms as President of Downtown New Jersey and remains on the Board.

She also serves on the Township’s Pedestrian Safety Committee and is a member of the RVL Mayors Alliance and Raritan Valley Rail Coalition advocating for transit improvements including midtown direct train service. “This goes beyond desperately needed improvement for commuters. Access to safe, reliable and efficient transit is a major selling point for home buyers and increases home values,” said Miller Prunty.

“Like Brian, my late husband and I chose Cranford almost 40 years ago as the place to raise our three sons. It is not an accident that so many young people return to town to buy a home and raise their family. I am thrilled to say the Pruntys are now a three generation Cranford family,” she added.

“Cranford is such a wonderful place brimming with potential to be even better as a town that is appealing and convenient for young families as well as empty nesters. We look forward to talking with our Cranford friends, neighbors and businessowners in the coming months,” she added.
