Cunningham on the Tentative Contract Agreement Between Rutgers and AAUP-AFT

Trenton – Senate Higher Education Chair Senator Sandra Bolden Cunningham issued the following statement on the tentative contract agreement between Rutgers University and AAUP-AFT:

“The agreement reached at Rutgers is not only a win for their faculty and staff, but the faculty and staff of universities across the state, and ultimately it is a win for all workers. The demands of AAUP-AFT address injustices all workers face in every industry, in every state around the county. As the largest university in New Jersey they are raising the bar for our institutions of higher education, while also reminding us of the importance of collective bargaining. I commend them on their dedication to ensuring pay equity and accommodations for new mothers, among other things, and I am grateful they were able to come to an agreement with the administration.”
