Republicans Trade Barbs in Nasty NJ-09 Primary: “The Three Stooges Could Not Have Done A Worse Job”

GOP infighting is getting vicious in New Jersey’s 9th Congressional District. After multiple news outlets reported that Tiffany Buress is “on the verge of losing [her] ritzy North Jersey home to foreclosure,” Republicans are coming out swinging against her floundering campaign.

A former New Jersey GOP congressional candidate slammed local party leaders for trying to propel Burress through a “backroom deal” in spite of her legal woes. Shore News Network reports:

“Former congressional candidate Frank Pallotta is taking aim at North Jersey Republican leaders, accusing them of betraying party members after endorsing Tiffany Burress for Congress in New Jersey’s 9th District — despite, he claims, her facing multiple foreclosures and recent financial troubles.

[...] Pallotta, who twice ran as the Republican nominee in the 5th Congressional District, accused county leadership of making a “backroom deal” without input from local party members. “They deceived every Republican in the district,” he wrote. “The Three Stooges could not have done a worse job.”

He also criticized Burress’s recent party switch, saying she became a registered Republican only 62 days before launching her campaign — and doesn’t currently live in the district she seeks to represent.”

DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“Congratulations to National Republicans on their latest recruitment failure in NJ-09, a candidate who is facing a mountain of legal woes and stirring up a blistering intra-party fight. It seems to be going really great!”
