DeAngelo Statement on the Resignation of PJM's CEO
(TRENTON) — Assemblyman Wayne P. DeAngelo(D-Mercer, Middlesex), Chair of the Assembly Telecommunications and Utilities Committee, offered the following statement in response to the announced resignation of Manu Asthana, CEO of PJM Interconnection:
“While leadership transitions always bring a degree of uncertainty, they also present an opportunity for reflection and meaningful change. As we heard during recent legislative hearings, there are deep concerns about how PJM’s market decisions are affecting ratepayers in New Jersey, especially when it comes to the rising costs of electricity and delays in connecting clean energy projects to the grid.
“I hope this change signals a willingness within PJM to take a fresh look at its priorities and to engage more transparently and collaboratively with states like New Jersey. I remain committed to working with my colleagues in the Legislature to shape a more energy secure future for New Jersey and look forward to working with the new leadership at PJM to ensure that the system works for consumers—not against them.”
