Deborah Heart and Lung Center is Nationally Recognized for the 5th Year in a Row for its Commitment to Providing High-Quality Heart Failure Care

BROWNS MILLS, NJ (July 5, 2022) – Deborah Heart and Lung Center has earned the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Get With The Guidelines®–Heart Failure Gold quality achievement award for its commitment to improving outcomes for patients with heart failure, resulting in reduced readmissions and more healthy days at home. This is the fifth year in a row Deborah has earned either the Gold, or Gold Plus, award distinction.

About 6.2 million American adults live with heart failure, a chronic progressive condition in which the heart is unable to pump enough blood to meet the body’s needs for blood and oxygen. While there is no cure for heart failure, patients can live a quality life by working with their health care provider to create a plan that might include medications, symptom monitoring, and lifestyle changes.

The Get With the Guidelines—Heart Failure achievement award is earned by hospitals that demonstrate a commitment to treating patients according to the most up-to-date guidelines outlined by the American Heart Association. These guidelines provide the latest expert-based and research-based recommendations to help heart failure patients live their best lives with the least amount of hospitalization. Deborah, by committing to the quality standards set by the AHA, has underscored its drive to improve the lives of its heart failure patients.

“We are delighted to once again receive this heart failure Gold quality achievement award,” said cardiologist Kulpreet Barn, MD, Director of Deborah’s Advanced Heart Failure Program. “Our receipt of this award from the American Heart Association year after year proves that Deborah is focused on quality outcomes for our patients, and that we are on the cutting-edge of using the latest research and evidence-based approaches to manage these oftentimes medically complex patients. We are proud that our hard work has been recognized.”

“We are pleased to recognize the leaders and teams at Deborah Heart and Lung Center for a strong commitment to caring for people with heart failure,” said Clyde W. Yancy, MD, MSc, MACC, FAHA, MACP, FHFSA, and national Chairperson of the American Heart Association Heart Failure systems of care advisory group and chief, division of cardiology at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine. “Hospitals that participate in Get With The Guidelines quality improvement programs often see better patient outcomes, fewer readmissions and lower mortality rates – a win for health care systems, families and communities.”
