Cranford Township Committee

(Cranford, NJ) — Deputy Mayor Paul A. Gallo and longtime community leader Susan Burke have officially announced their candidacy for the Cranford Township Committee, pledging to continue their commitment to transparent and responsive local government.

Paul A. Gallo has served on the Cranford Township Committee since 2023 and currently holds the role of Public Safety Commissioner. He also serves as liaison to the Cranford Board of Education and as committee liaison to the Complete Streets Committee, Cranford Community Connection, and Cranford Prevention and Wellness. Gallo brings over 25 years of experience in information technology. A Cranford resident since 2013, Gallo previously served on the board of the Cranford Downtown Management Corporation and a local community service organization. He and his wife are raising their two children in Cranford.

Susan Burke, a Cranford resident of over 13 years, has a long record of community involvement and volunteer leadership. She currently serves as President of the Cranford Library Board of Trustees, where she is overseeing key improvements including the renovation of the children’s room. Burke has served on the library board since 2017, including roles as Vice President, Personnel Chair, and Buildings and Grounds Chair.

A mother of 3 young children, Burke is also an active member of the Cranford community, serving on the OAS PTA board, volunteering extensively in local schools, and supporting youth programs as a Girl Scout troop volunteer. She has also held leadership roles with organizations including the Helen K. Baldwin Nursery School and the Cranford Newcomers Club. She previously worked as an editor in the publishing and marketing industries.

Gallo and Burke emphasized their shared priorities of preserving Cranford’s unique character, improving livability and quality of life, strengthening public safety, advancing environmental stewardship, and investing in resilient infrastructure.
