District 40 Democrats Stand with Gov. Murphy and Say “Trust Science, Save Lives”
RIDGEWOOD, NJ – Last week, NJ State Senator Kristin Corrado (R) spoke out against Governor Phil Murphy’s child care mask mandate that would require all childcare workers to be vaccinated against covid-19 or show weekly negative tests, as well as require masks for all workers and children over the age of two.
Ridgewood Deputy Mayor Michael Sedon (D), who is running in opposition to Senator Corrado responded, “We know the simple step of putting on a mask offers some level of additional protection from spreading Covid to others. We care about District 40’s children and childcare providers. We’re trusting the science and urging everyone to do everything possible to save lives – including wearing masks.”
Assembly candidate Genevieve Allard, who teaches at Bergen County Techinical School, said, “After 18 months of seeing photos of fellow educators who lost their lives to this virus, it is a small request to ask everyone to step up and do their part. Following the science is the only way we will get out from under this deadly virus.”
Waldwick Councilwoman and District 40 State Assembly Candidate Nicole McNamara (D) also spoke out in favor of the mandate, “Children are innately looking to be helpful. You give them a task and they are so eager to achieve. When you explain that the simple act of wearing a mask will protect grandma or grandpa or their teacher not get sick, they want to do good.”
District 40’s current Assemblymembers have been part of the Republican minority in the State House vocally objecting to Governor Murphy’s protective public health orders. 27,288 New Jerseyans have lost their lives to covid-19, with nearly 60,000 cases reported in the past 28 days.
