OFFICIAL STATEMENT: TASK FORCE REPORTS A SOUTH JERSEY LAW FIRM AND LOBBYIST CONTROLLED TAX BREAK PROGRAM. IS ANYONE SURPRISED?

CHERRY HILL – NJ CD-1 GOP candidate Josh Duvall released the following statement:

“The first EDA Task Force report is now public. You can read it yourself.

“Allow me to share some of the most interesting findings:

• “Special Interests, Which Prioritized Benefits to Private Parties Rather than the State, Had a Significant Impact on the Design of the Grow NJ Statutes and Regulations”

• “…special interests—in the form of a law and lobbying firm and the clients on whose behalf it apparently operated—appear to have had a significant impact on the design of the Grow NJ statute as amended by the Economic Opportunity Act of 2013 (or “EOA 2013”) and its implementing regulations.”

• “the Grow NJ program was dramatically expanded by EOA 2013 in numerous respects. Principal among these amendments were provisions that allowed projects in Camden—where many of the law firm’s clients had business interests—to receive awards far in excess of what would have been possible in other parts of the State.”

“The entire report is about 80 pages long and it’s worth every minute of reading time if you care at all about the truth of the EDA tax break program and how it operated in conjunction with the Norcross political machine in South Jersey.”

“These initial findings won’t surprise anyone who’s been paying attention. More information is sure to come out and this story is far from over, but one fundamental question will hold the test of time regardless of the final outcome: are South Jersey residents okay with their hard-earned tax dollars being controlled by an unelected power broker, his lobbyist brother, and their yes-man Donald Norcross? Or have they had enough of the Norcross political machine?”
