James Spango for Mayor – Eileen Fishman & Roger Freda for Council
Receive Endorsement of Roseland Green and Roseland Glen Communities Board of Directors
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 28, 2018
Roseland, NJ – The Board of Directors of two of the largest communities in Roseland released endorsement letters for the Democratic team of James Spango for Mayor, Eileen Fishman and Roger Freda for Council. In similar letters signed by Jack Goldberg, President of Roseland Glen Condominium Association, and Dave Veneri, President of Roseland Green Board of Directors, the team of Spango, Fishman and Freda was endorsed because this election is “about people working hard to make a difference and this year (these) candidates did it better than the others when looking at issues that pertain” to our community.
“We appreciate the endorsements from the Boards of Directors of Roseland Green and Roseland Glen. Roseland is a diverse community with its residents living in homes along public streets and in residential communities. If elected, we will represent all residents, who deserve to have their concerns listened to and addressed as best as possible,” Spango, Fishman and Freda announced in a joint statement. “Improving the lines of communication and transparency of government have been hallmarks or our campaign, which we will continue if we are elected to serve the residents of Roseland,” they added.
Regarding Mayoral Candidate Spango, Goldberg and Veneri both stated that he “has served the county and wears many hats in doing so. He spent hours going over his thoughts and plans and has a documented history at the county level.” They shared the same support for Council Candidate Freda who “ties up the group with a willingness to listen and further the ‘all-for-one’ thinking that’s so needed when seeing private and public homes as one entity,” their letters state. For Council Candidate Fishman, Goldberg wrote that she “will keep the private communities in mind as she has a vested interest as a Roseland Green resident” while Veneri wrote that “Fishman lives amongst us and there’s no doubt that she will keep the private communities in mind as she has a vested interest as a resident here as discussed on no less than four occasions.”
Goldberg and Veneri stated that home association groups have been meeting with the current members of the Township Council to discuss services they believe the municipality should provide for residential developments, such as road maintenance. “Over the last month, we have seen three parties knocking on doors with promises in exchange for votes. While the promises and language sounded good, one group went over and above contacting board members, sitting down to go over their plan of action,” they wrote about the Democratic candidates.
Veneri also expressed support for Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr., who is seeking re-election. He noted that when he shared concerns about speeding on Harrison Avenue, mosquito control in the wetlands and deer management, “I didn’t just get calls back. I had men show up unannounced at my home looking to address our concerns which they did.”

Roseland Glen &
Roseland Green Letters of Endorsement
Dear Residents,
We are in the midst of negotiations with the town council regarding services we feel are owed us as strong tax paying residents of Roseland.
As of this writing, we were promised at the public meeting that our streets would be maintained and repaired through the existing ordinance and a future one to be completed by December. The board and I are hopeful but you do NOT hang your hat on promises.
Before I get into naming that group, let me state that the majority of this board including myself are not tied solely to any political group. This boards job is to make sure that we are represented in a fair and equal manner.
By combining forces with the other town home associations, we account for many hundreds of potential votes. Hundreds of votes will swing this election and place the HOA’s of Roseland in a very important position in future elections. Let me underline the statement that we are NOT telling you to do anything but vote for your candidate of choice. What we are saying is that as a chosen Board Of Directors, we feel that a certain group of individuals best represents our board related thinking and will potentially execute a plan for the betterment of all the private communities in Roseland.
We and the boards of our sister private communities of Roseland feel that this years candidates of the Democratic party will best serve our collective interests. We believe that evening out the political playing field creates a better future for Roseland Glen and our sister communities.
Mayoral candidate James Spango has served the county and wears many hats in doing so. He spent hours going over his thoughts and plans and has a documented history at the county level. Candidate Eileen Fishman will keep the private communities in mind as she has a vested interest as a Roseland Green resident. Candidate Roger Freda ties up the group with a willingness to listen and further the ” All for one” thinking that’s so needed when seeing private and public homes as one entity.
In closing let me state that there are no guarantees with anything in life. We believe this group deserves a chance to serve our community. The Democratic candidates, by far made the most effort to listen to our needs as a community. Our interests are clear, Roseland Glen and our sister communities demand to be treated equally to other Roseland homeowners, no more, no less. It isn’t about any particular party, its about people working hard to make a difference and this year the above mentioned candidates did it better than the others when looking at issues that pertain to Roseland Glen.
Yours Truly,
Jack Goldberg
President of Roseland Glen Condominium Association
Dear Residents,
We are in the midst of negotiations with the town council regarding services we feel are owed us as strong tax paying residents of Roseland.
As of this writing, we were promised at the public meeting that our pump house and streets would be maintained and repaired through the existing ordinance and a future one to be completed by December. The board and I are hopeful but you do NOT hang your hat on promises.
Over the last month we have seen 3 parties knocking on doors with promises in exchange for votes. While the promises and language sounded good, one group went over and above contacting board members, sitting down to go over their plan of action. Before I get into naming that group, let me state that the majority of this board including myself are not tied solely to any political group. We want a dedicated group to see and understand that Roseland is quickly becoming a townhome/ condo associated town that might account for 50% of the residential homes in the next 10 years. This boards job is to make sure that we are represented in a fair and equal manner considering we pay the highest taxes of any private community in the area.
While some might not agree with the spirit of this letter, let us remind you that be it truck drivers, police, teachers, athletes, etc. they ALL throw their weight behind individuals or groups that can best represent them. The term collective bargaining comes to mind and as the old saying goes, there is power in numbers. Taking that statement one step further, I have been in contact with all the Roseland private community board Presidents and feel we have very common goals. In general, we all seem to share the support of one set of individuals for a few reasons. If we take this next step and combine forces with the other town home associations, we account for many hundreds of potential votes. Hundreds of votes will swing this election and place the HOA’s of Roseland in a very important position in future elections.
Having said this, let me underline the statement that we are NOT telling you to do anything but vote for your candidate of choice. What we are saying is that as a chosen Board of Directors, we feel that a certain group of individuals best represents our board related thinking and will potentially execute a plan for the betterment of all the private communities in Roseland. As always, and like we see on a smaller scale, folks can get replaced just as quickly as they join in and there is NO tenure when it comes to these positions. We intend to monitor voting records of ALL town council members going forward.
We and the boards of our sister private communities of Roseland feel that this year’s candidates of the Democratic party will best serve our collective interests. We believe that evening out the political playing field creates a better thinking process. We believe that change needs to occur in some areas and this has more to do about the individuals than it does about their party affiliation. Life isn’t conservative or liberal, it’s a combination of both sides and we believe that can only occur with equal representation where compromises and moderation seal the deal for success. We are not denouncing ANY group running for office, we as a board majority do feel however that one group made it a point to make a bigger effort and provide a plan pertaining to the private communities.
Candidate Elleen Fishman lives amongst us and there’s no doubt that she will keep the private communities in mind as she has a vested interest as a resident here as discussed on no less than 4 occasions. Mayoral candidate James Spango has served the county and wears many hats in doing so. He spent hours going over his thoughts and plans and has a documented history at the county level. Roger Freda ties up the group with a willingness to listen and further the ” All for one” thinking that’s so needed when seeing private and public homes as one entity.
Lastly, let me state that current Cty. Exec. and candidate Joe DiVincenzo has been very helpful when it came to issues under county jurisdiction. When we had concerns about mosquitoes in our wetlands, speeding on Harrison Ave., potential traffic lights etc., I didn’t just get calls back…. I had men show up unannounced at my home looking to address our concerns which they did including the installation of deer crossing signs on Passaic Ave. where numerous accidents have taken place. They also lowered the speed limit on Harrison Ave. to 35 mph to stave off potential accidents benefits us and other homes on that speedway. I fully expect that expeditious service to continue county wide with him steering the ship based on past efforts witnessed first-hand.
In closing let me state that there are no guarantees with anything in life. You execute or there’s a replacement waiting right behind you. We believe this group deserves a chance serving as checks and balances which is long overdue. They, by far made the most effort this go around. Our interests are clear, Roseland Green and our sister communities first, the town of Roseland second, and the county of Essex third. It isn’t about any particular party, it’s about people working hard to make a difference and this year the above-mentioned candidates did it better than the others when looking at issues that pertain to your chosen Board of Directors.
Sincerely,
Dave Veneri
Roseland Green Board Of Directors.
