ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS MAYOR MARIO M. KRANJAC’s Statement Regarding Saudino

After being removed from office for racist slurs, former Bergen County Sheriff Michael Saudino re-joined the county Republican Party, saying that he cannot support the liberal policies of Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy and the extreme progressive initiatives that he says are undermining the safety and the future of NJ.

MAYOR MARIO M. KRANJAC

I made the following statement regarding hate speech during the Special Meeting of the Englewood Cliffs Mayor and Council on September 20, 2018.

“While I do not agree with very much that Governor Murphy does, I commend him for rooting out bigotry and hatred by calling for the resignation of Bergen County Sheriff Saudino who was recorded using racist speech. This is not acceptable.

We have a similar situation here in Englewood Cliffs where our Police Chief and other officers were recorded by the Chief engaging in anti-Asian and anti-women slurs and speech – so much for the ECPD’s so called stigma free zone.

I have brought administrative and criminal charges forward and I am still waiting for the Bergen County Prosecutor and New Jersey Attorney General to rid us of this hatred.

I ask the citizens of Englewood Cliffs to contact the prosecutor, the attorney general and the governor to make it clear that we will not tolerate hate speech in Englewood Cliffs.”
