Assemblywoman Led Environment Hearing Thursday Discussing Stormwater Management Bills
(TRENTON) – Assemblywoman Nancy Pinkin (D-Middlesex) issued the following statement after hearing from organizations and stakeholders on the effects of rising sea levels and stormwater drainage:
“In light of the back to back snowstorms we’ve just experienced, today was the perfect opportunity to discuss the impact of storm weather and how we better help municipalities manage stormwater runoff.
“Stormwater drainage and management is a longtime concern for our communities, especially along our coastline. We were looking for options and opportunity today to learn how the state can properly provide support in planning and management of stormwater drainage within municipalities.
“I appreciate the insightful testimony provided by our guests on Thursday. The bottom line is that the impact of the storms on the value of our real estate both public and private and on our local businesses has been tremendous. This means that the solution will require a multi-pronged approach to address all of the state, towns and our businesses’ concerns.”
