ESSEX COUNTY FREEHOLDERS HONOR ESSEX RUNNING CLUB ON THEIR 35TH ANNIVERSARY
(Bloomfield, NJ) – During its Wednesday, April 10, 2019 meeting at Bloomfield Town Hall, the Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders honored the Essex Running Club on their 35th Anniversary. The Commendation was sponsored by Freeholder President Brendan Gill, who is a Montclair resident and longtime member of the club.
The Essex Running Club was founded 35-years ago with 12 members seeking to promote road running and related activities as a means of developing physical fitness and good health. Since its founding, the Club has embraced runners of all types including: health conscious runners looking to stay motivated and fit; walkers seeking to get in shape; as well as competitive runners interested in training, racing, and team events.
The Club also provides opportunities for interested runners to meet and socialize at its monthly meetings, and to support many local communities with their own running events such as the Verona Labor Day Run, the Ashenfelter 8K Classic held in Glen Ridge, and the Montclair 10K Run.
District 5 Freeholder Carlos Pomares, Freeholder At-Large Patricia Sebold, District 1 Freeholder Robert Mercado, and District 4 Freeholder Leonard Luciano were also on hand to celebrate and commend the Essex Running Club.
